Igor Orlov
He is the founder and head of the NASA Sailing Academy, an exceptionally experienced sailor and Yachtmaster (RYA Cert. No. 20017, Southampton, UK), holds a degree in meteorology (Faculty of Physics, University of Belgrade), and is the author of the Nautical Handbook (© 2019, Didakta).
Within the NASA Sailing Academy, he has trained more than 1,000 sailors and has taken part in numerous regattas — including some of the most demanding — across the Adriatic, the Mediterranean, the English Channel, the Baltic Sea, and beyond.
He is the President of the Section for Large Yachts / Keelboats at the Slovenian Sailing Federation and heads the training program for the Offshore Personal Survival, established by World Sailing Member National Authorities (MNAs) and conforming to World Sailing minimum standards.
Dušan Puh
A legend of Slovenian sailing, undoubtedly one of the best and most successful Adriatic sailors. Winner of numerous prestigious regattas on yachts of all types and sizes, and helmsman of the sailing yacht Adriatic Europa.
He has dedicated his entire life to the sea and sailing, participating in many of the most important projects in Slovenian sailing. He also supported the NASA academy project and has acted as a mentor for the school since its inception.
He personally trained some of the first NASA academy racing teams, leaving an indelible mark – valuable experience and knowledge, a winning mindset, tenacity, and perseverance; virtues possessed only by true champions.
Andrej Gartner
An exceptional sailor, aviator, and a symbol of the NASA Sailing Academy. He began his sailing journey with the academy in 2013. The very next year, he became a prominent member of the NASA Bravo TEAM and over the years progressed into a helmsman capable of challenging even the best Slovenian sailors.
As a navigator and tactician, he was indispensable at all major regattas in which the NASA Sailing Academy participated.
He repeatedly proved his knowledge, experience, and skills as a skipper and helmsman, both at domestic regattas and at the ORC World Championship in Šibenik in 2019.
Davor Klemen
A sailor who is always prepared. A solid pillar of support. Calm and prudent when it matters most. He always responds to challenges with the same attitude: “We’ll handle this!”.
In short, a man for serious sailing. He also understands the needs of less experienced sailors and has a special talent for passing on his knowledge and experience.
Born for offshore challenges and instructing.
Aleš Štravs
An expert and enthusiast. A lawyer practicing maritime law and a passionate lover of the sea and sailing.
Member of the charismatic and highly successful Delta TEAM and long-time president of the NASA Sailing Club.
Initiator and supporter of numerous sailing projects that perfected the skills and further united the members of the NASA racing TEAM.
He participated in two ORC World Championships (Šibenik 2019 and Sorrento 2026).
NASA racing TEAM
The NASA racing TEAM (NRT) consists of sailors who trained for regattas at our academy, demonstrating the highest level of skill and desire for competitive sailing.
Passion, friendship, strong human values, and the desire for sailing progress are the traits that unite NRT members, reflecting in all sailing challenges and numerous successes at regattas.
Over the course of 10 years, NRT has participated in the most attractive and demanding regattas at home and abroad, winning more than 100 trophies! Nevertheless, our greatest wealth and happiness are not the regatta achievements, but the exceptional atmosphere and excellent relationships within the team.
All active team members are also members of the NASA Sailing Club and registered sailors with the Slovenian Sailing Federation.
